UCL Art Museum research
UCL Art Museum contains many unique groups of material of international importance.
The collection of Flaxman plaster models and drawings is the largest group of work by this important sculptor in any collection. Equally, the Slade was the only English art school to systematically collect student work, and this collection provides a unique insight into developments in art education in Britain as well as containing individual works of considerable importance. In keeping with the importance of these collections scholars from the UK and abroad regularly visit the collection as part of their research. Works in the reserve collection are also available for viewing by the general public by appointment.
Ongoing research on the collection by the curators is presented through the temporary exhibition programme which provides a means of regularly showcasing groups of material in the collection and publishing more detailed information about the works.
